North Osaka is an area with lots of vegetation and nature. Toyonaka is a core city that serves as an exclusive residential area. Along with the development of Senri New Town, the area also grew as a city of commerce and is home to the Hankyu Hanshin Toho Group as well as the Panasonic headquarters. Takatsuki is situated in between the cities of Osaka and Kyoto, serving primarily as a commuter town. Other cities in the area are also within commuting distance of Osaka, and characterized by being calm areas with lots of nature and temples.
The northern area of Osaka has many historical remains, like ancient tombs and ruins. There are also a number of museums. You can even check out the cultures of the world, and not just Japan, at the National Museum of Ethnology.
In Minoh, you have Katsuoji, which is famous for its daruma dolls, Minoh Falls, and hot springs. In Ikeda, you have the Cup Noodle Museum. And in Suita, you have the Expo '70 Commemorative Park, the Tower of the Sun, and a soccer stadium.
With lots of major roads, and Osaka International (Itami) Airport the area makes it easy to get around. JR Tokaido Main Line, Hankyu Kyoto Main Line provide convenient access to Kyoto.
