Misaki

Misaki Town lies at the southwestern tip of Osaka Prefecture, bordered by Wakayama Prefecture with the Izumi Mountains rising behind it. Facing Osaka Bay and looking out toward Awaji Island, it has long been a key point on the Nankaidō route for travel to Kii Province, Awaji Province, and Shikoku. The town’s terrain spans about 10 km east–west and 6 km north–south, covering 49.18 square kilometers, of which roughly 80% is mountainous. The population was 15,938 in the 2015 national census, representing an 8.95% decrease from the previous survey. Surrounded by mountains and sea, Misaki Town has facilities such as Fuke Fishing Port’s market selling the day’s catch, the “Sea Fishing Pond Opa” enjoyed by both children and adults, the lavish resort hotel known as “Marine Lodge Umikazekan,” and “Piazza 5,” a multipurpose complex with a heated pool, baths, karaoke rooms, and restaurants. In addition, Tan’nowa Yūen (Tan’nowa Amusement Park), famous in late April for being blanketed in azaleas, offers sweeping views of the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge and Kansai International Airport; nearby is an eatery called “Umikazekan.”
