Osaka Stock Exchange Building

The Osaka Exchange (OSE) Building changed its corporate name from the “Osaka Securities Exchange” on March 24, 2014. It is directly connected to Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line Kitahama Station, making it easy to find. Because it sits on a riverside corner intersection, some people use it as a meeting spot. A statue of Tomoatsu Godai (Goday Tomoatsu), a late-Edo-era entrepreneur who became well known through an NHK morning drama, stands here and has made the building a sightseeing spot—many visitors come after taking interest through the drama. Godai is credited with involvement in establishing various institutions in Osaka. The building has a classic, dignified feel, recommended for fans of retro architecture. On the 1st floor, the Atrium Vision and the OSE Gallery can be visited, where you can learn about stocks—making it useful even for elementary and junior-high students’ school research projects. About a 1-minute walk from the Osaka Exchange is the popular café “Kitahama Retro.”
