Redhorse Osaka Ferris Wheel

REDHORSE OSAKA WHEEL is Japan’s largest Ferris wheel, standing 123 meters tall, and opened on July 1, 2016 as the landmark of EXPOCITY in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. With a design based on white, it was the world’s fifth-tallest Ferris wheel at the time of opening. It was also the world’s first to adopt a seismic isolation structure and the first in Japan to receive certification from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The wheel has 72 gondolas, and one full rotation takes about 18 minutes. Each gondola is equipped with air conditioning and an air purifier, and the seat width is set to about 60 cm per person for comfort. All gondolas feature an acrylic “see-through” floor, allowing riders to look straight down. Standard gondolas hold up to six people, while two “VIP gondolas” hold up to four and include leather sofas and a feature that lets the transparent floor switch to frosted glass at the touch of a button. At night, the wheel is illuminated with LED lighting, with colors and patterns changing according to seasons, events, and special tie-ins.
