Naniwa-za (Osaka Shin-Kabuki-Za)

Osaka Shin-Kabukiza Theatre is a theater located on the 6th floor of Uehommachi YUFURA in Tennoji Ward, Osaka. Opened in September 2010, it hosts period dramas, music shows, and monthly performances by famous enka singers. The theater has a three-tier seating structure with 1,453 seats. It is the successor to the former Osaka Kabukiza in Sennichimae, which closed in 1958. While bearing the Kabuki name, the original theater pioneered new entertainment styles focused on star performers rather than traditional Kabuki. The original Osaka Shin-Kabukiza closed in 2009, and the Hotel Royal Classic Osaka was later built on the site.

  • Hotel Royal Classic Osaka, built on the former site of the first Osaka Shin-Kabukiza Theater, was designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma. The design brilliantly embodies the concept “Connecting Time,” preserving the traditional motifs of the culturally valuable Shin-Kabukiza while also incorporating dynamic, modern elements through layered aluminum fins. The hotel also features more than 100 art pieces, gaining attention as a “HOTEL & MUSEUM.” It’s sure to become a new cultural hub for Namba.
