Opened in 2001, Universal Studios Japan is a theme park where you can thoroughly experience the world of Hollywood movies like "Jaws" and "Jurrasic Park." Having directed a great number of Universal movies, Steven Spielberg worked as creative director at Universal Creative. The park had a grand total of 11,029,000 visitors during its opening year and saw a transition to an annual 8 million in subsequent years. In 2011, various events were held to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, which drew in 8.8 million visitors during the fiscal year. The family friendly areas of Universal Wonderland, which opened in March 2012 and Minion Park, which opened in April 2017 are visited by lots of families. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which opened in July 2014 is also an extremely popular area. There are not only shows and rides based on major Hollywood films, but seasonal events as well that keep both kids and adults entertained. Universal Studios Japan is immediately accessible after getting off at Universal City Station on the JR Yumesaki Line.
