Dotonbori Konamon Museum

Konamon Museum is a spot where you can learn about Osaka’s “konamon” (flour-based) food culture, starting with takoyaki—one of Osaka’s signature soul foods. It’s about a 4-minute walk from Osaka Metro Namba Station, and as you walk along Dotonbori Street, you’re welcomed by a giant octopus sculpture. The first floor is a shop where you can actually eat takoyaki, and it is bustling with lines of customers. From the second floor up is an exhibition space introducing the history of konamon. On the third floor, there is also an area where you can try making takoyaki food replicas, which are popular with international visitors. Since simple kits are provided, even small children can make them easily. After learning about takoyaki through exhibits and hands-on experiences, it’s also recommended to try making your own takoyaki in the basement “Takoyaki Dojo Kukuru Takumi,” where you can choose your favorite ingredients and enjoy a personalized takoyaki creation.
