Kyobashi

Kyobashi refers to the area of Higashinodamachi in Miyakojima Ward containing JR Kyobashi Station, various restaurants, and underground shopping centers. A transfer point on the JR Line and Keihan Line, Kyobashi Station has over 500,000 commuters daily. As many people come and go, the sight of workers getting off and stopping by drinking establishments at the nearby shopping street is not uncommon. The Keihan Mall is connected directly to the station and houses various stores, making it a great stop for shopping too. With the busy shopping district around the station, the name Kyobashi has become synomous with this area in particular. Some also refer to the area as Higashi, as it is the entryway into the eastern portion of Osaka, much like Kita for Umeda and Minami for Namba. Within walking distance of the station is Kyobashi Comms Garden, linked to Kyobashi Terminal and Osaka Business Park. The underground area is filled with cafes, izakayas, and other eateries. The pedestrian passageway on the B1F is like a corridor that takes the hanging garden into consideration, creating a calm atmosphere. Additionally, Grand Chateau is the name of a leisure center, that is known throught Kansai thanks to its unique appearance and late-night commercials. The fifth floor features a bathhouse and sauna, which costs ¥770 for 50 minutes on weekdays.

  • Infomation

Kyobashi Shopping Street has lots of restaurants, serving ramen, okonomiyaki, sushi, etc. After grabbing a bite, stopping by the Grand Chateau for a sweat at the sauna could be a good idea. A bit removed from Kyobashi Station is a large, traditional public bath, Utopia Shiratama Onsen. We recommend this place for those interested in going for a soak in Japan. After Kyobashi, you could take the train to Osakajokoen Station and go to Osaka Castle.
