Yamadaike Park
Yamadaike Park is a park centered around Yamadaike Pond, which was originally created as an irrigation pond about 1,200 years ago (in the Heian period). Yamadaike is one of the largest ponds in Osaka Prefecture, and it occupies about one-seventh of the park’s total area of 73.7 hectares. You can also bring your own gear and enjoy fishing at the pond. The park includes gardens recreating Australian and British styles, a waterside flower garden where you can see blossoms such as Japanese irises, hydrangeas, and water lilies, as well as a grassy hill and open spaces with playground equipment for children. The park also has ten kinds of trees that turn color in autumn, making it possible to enjoy fall foliage for an extended season from mid-October to early December. In addition to a free barbecue area, there is also a paid facility called “GoodBBQ” where you can barbecue empty-handed. At Akebodera (Ak eo-dera), the 11th temple of the Kawachi Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, you can see a unique bell tower with a conical roof. As you stroll through the park, you might stop to pay respects to the principal image, the Eleven-Headed Kannon.
