Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building Observatory
The Sakishima Observatory (Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building Observatory) is an observation deck located 252 meters above the ground. From Cosmo Square Station it’s about a 10-minute walk. Highlights include a glass-walled “see-through elevator” that lets you enjoy views while traveling from the 1st to the 52nd floor, and a 42-meter-long escalator, adding extra thrill typical of high-rise observatories. The panoramic sea views and night scenery are especially impressive, and one of its charms is being able to enjoy different atmospheres in the daytime, at sunset, and at night. At dusk, you can watch the sun sink into the sea; at night, a recommended view is the luxury cruise ships around Tempozan, shining alongside the illuminated Ferris wheel. Seasonal events and campaigns may be held; for example, in the past there was a “rainy day campaign” offering a 100-yen discount on admission. If you want a refreshing break from the bustle of the city, this is a great spot—ideal for families and couples.
