Suomachi Street/Europe Street
Suōmachi-dōri is a street about 500 meters long running east–west from Midosuji Avenue to Sakaisuji Avenue. The brick buildings, streetlamps, and stone-paved road along it create a calm atmosphere, and in contrast to Amerikamura on the west side of Midosuji, the area is often called “Europe Street” or “Europe Village.” Along Suōmachi-dōri you’ll find long-established favorites such as the Shinsaibashi main store of Nagasakidō, a castella shop with over 100 years of history; the Shinsaibashi main store of CAFE Eikokuya, where you can enjoy coffee and tea in a European-style interior; and the popular ramen restaurant Dōtonbori Kamukura. Many boutiques are European brands like Dunhill, Dr. Martens, and Burberry. At the same time, newer shops have also appeared, such as the baked cheese tart specialty store PABLO and Banh Mi Sakura Shinsaibashi (opened in October 2020). On the Sakaisuji side, there are many restaurants and bars open late, making it a good area for nightlife as well.
