Suzunariza

Suzunariza is a popular theater located in Nishinari Ward, Osaka. Formerly known as Tsurumi Grand Theater, it was renamed after renovation. The theater has a seating capacity of 109, and guests are free to bring in food and move seats. Performances are held twice daily, during the daytime and evening, with an admission fee of 1,500 yen. The surrounding area was once largely coastal and later developed through land reclamation and railway expansion during the Meiji and Taisho periods.

  • There are many reasonably priced restaurants around Suzunari-za. Inside the facility, you can eat takoyaki containing large pieces of octopus and konnyaku—this has become a specialty of the area. It’s cheap at 300 yen for 8 pieces, and it’s said that not only customers but also actors eat it.
