Fukuromachi Park
Fukuromachi Park is a park in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Tucked just off the busy Namiki-dori boulevard, it is a place where you can take a breather away from the bustle. People come and go for meeting up and for letting children play. There are playground facilities for kids, and while many tourists visit, it is also widely used by local residents. Inside the park, there is also a mother-and-child statue mourning the victims of the atomic bombing, offering a glimpse of Hiroshima’s identity. With Okonomi-mura and PARCO nearby, the area is always busy, making it a safe and comfortable place to relax. The park also has trees such as cherry blossoms that let you feel the seasons, making it a nature-rich green space. Because it is truly a small park sitting right in the middle of the city, many people stop by during sightseeing. You will also often see people buying takeout coffee from nearby convenience stores or cafés and enjoying it here. To get to Fukuromachi Park, take Hiroshima Electric Railway streetcar Line 1 bound for Hiroshima Port from JR Hiroshima Station, get off at "Fukuromachi," and walk about 5 minutes. It may feel far from the station, but once you go, you will likely realize it is actually quite close.
