Ebayama Museum
Ebayama Meteorological Museum serves both as a museum dedicated to meteorology and as a preserved atomic-bombed building. The main building was originally constructed in 1934 as the Hiroshima Local Meteorological Observatory and has been preserved due to its high value as a modern heritage structure. It is designated as an Important Tangible Cultural Property of Hiroshima City. Bent window frames caused by the blast and walls embedded with shattered glass fragments remain, allowing visitors to experience the reality of the atomic bombing firsthand. The museum also displays investigation records of the atomic bomb compiled by meteorological staff at the time, and the video corner features a film adaptation of the novel "The Blank Weather Map" by Kunio Yanagida, depicting the damaged observatory. Interactive exhibits include a "Gust Capsule" that lets visitors experience wind speeds of 20 meters per second and a "Typhoon Box" where visitors can observe the eye of a typhoon inside artificial clouds. The museum offers an engaging way for both children and adults to learn about weather and climate. Access is about a 10–15 minute walk from Eba Station on the Hiroshima Electric Railway, or take a bus from Hondori Station and get off at either Eba Tunnel North or Eba Sakaemachi bus stops, followed by a 5–10 minute walk.
