The Hiroshima Botanical Garden

Hiroshima City Botanical Garden is set on elevated ground with panoramic views over the Setonaikai National Park, which includes the World Heritage site of Miyajima and the beautiful islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Opened in 1976, it has welcomed more than 9.5 million visitors to date. The 18.3-hectare grounds (about four Tokyo Domes) cultivate approximately 10,000 varieties and 203,000 plants from Japan and around the world. No matter what season you visit—spring, summer, autumn, or winter—colorful flowers and trees delight visitors. It is a perfect place to spend a relaxing day in nature and refresh both body and mind. A variety of events are held in the garden, making it a popular destination for families with children. If using public transportation (bus), take a bus bound for "Botanical Garden / Yakushigaoka Housing Complex" from JR Itsukaichi Station (Sanyo Main Line) or Hiroden Itsukaichi Station (Miyajima Line); travel time is about 20 minutes, and get off at "Botanical Garden." By car, it is about 20 minutes from Itsukaichi IC on the Sanyo Expressway via the Ishiuchi Bypass.
