5-Days Children's Museum
5-Days Children’s Cultural Science Museum is a science museum about a 4-minute walk north from the “Genbaku Dome-mae” streetcar stop. It is a 4-story building: floors 1–3 are free exhibition areas, and the 4th floor houses a paid planetarium. The museum is packed with hands-on exhibits especially enjoyable for children around early elementary school age. On the 1st floor, highlights include “Tanken Toride,” where kids learn science while passing through a jungle-gym-like maze and crossing aerial walkways, and “Tenku no Yume no Kuni,” where they can experience things like “playing with lightning” and a manual UFO catcher. A recommended spot on the 2nd floor is “Gulliver Land,” where visitors can operate model trains (N-gauge). Special exhibits and events are also held irregularly. The planetarium features a 20-meter-diameter dome screen and alternates programs for children and for adults. There is also a “Refletarium” program that combines starry skies with aromatherapy scents.
