Oto Onsen

Ondo Onsen is a hot spring in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is a rare type of onsen located on the second floor of a building in the middle of a downtown entertainment district. While running a public bathhouse, the previous owner began digging in the home garden from 1972 with the dream of someday bringing up hot spring water, and after 12 years, they finally struck an onsen at a depth of 850 meters. It is a sodium chloride spring and is effective for conditions such as muscle pain, neuralgia, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery. Because the word "Onsen" suddenly appears in the heart of Hiroshima City’s downtown, it feels like a very unusual urban hot spring. With a sauna, jet bath, herbal medicinal bath, and even a coin laundry, it is a clean and convenient bath facility, and many tourists come as well, drawn by how unique it is. There are also business hotels nearby, and it is used by people who are not satisfied with a hotel bath. It is also quite reasonably priced for an onsen, and being open until 1:00 a.m. may be one of the advantages of its downtown location. Women and children may prefer to visit earlier in the day. To get to Ondo Onsen, it is a 10-minute walk from Kochi-machi streetcar stop.
