Ebisu Shopping Street

Ebisu-dori Shopping Street is a shopping arcade in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Known as "Ebisu-dori," it is familiar and beloved among local residents. Located in the center of Hiroshima City, it has a history of more than 400 years. The name comes from Kōko Shrine (Ebisu Shrine) next to Mitsukoshi. Because Kōko Shrine is famous as a deity of business, many worshippers come, and the shopping street is lively with businesses operating alongside the shrine. All members of the shopping street are ujiko parishioners of Kōko Shrine and are full of enthusiasm. There are 70 shops, and because it is covered by an arcade, many people come every day to shop. It is also popular with tourists as a place to enjoy delicious local food and dining. During the Kōko Grand Festival, one of Hiroshima’s three major festivals, the shopping street comes together to celebrate. In conjunction with the festival, it holds a sale called "Ebisu-ko." The shopping street includes Fukuya Hatchobori Main Store, Mitsukoshi, Yamada Denki LABI Hiroshima, Futaba Books, and more. To get to Ebisu-dori Shopping Street, it is a 4-minute walk from Umebayashi Station.
