Hiroshima Prefectural Library

Hiroshima Prefectural Library is a prefectural library in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It holds about 750,000 books, including about 20,000 children’s books and picture books, and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month it holds storytime sessions (read-alouds and more). It also lends book sets (100 books for 60 days) to nearby daycare centers and after-school childcare clubs, making it a library cherished by Hiroshima residents. It also participates in an e-library initiative, allowing you to read e-books for free on library terminals. It also offers stack tours of the closed book storage area, which is normally not accessible (reservation required; the 4th Saturday of odd-numbered months), and this is another highlight. With reference services as well, it is nice that you can ask questions casually. The loan period is three weeks, up to 10 items, so the borrowing period is relatively long. Nearby is Senda Park, and it is also recommended to take a borrowed book and read it in the park. Around the Hiroshima Prefectural Library, there are okonomiyaki restaurants and cafés, making it a convenient location. To get to Hiroshima Prefectural Library, get off immediately at "Hiroshima Prefectural Information Plaza-mae" on Hiroshima Bus Route 21-2 (Ujina Line).
