Miyajima Pier

Miyajima Pier is the ferry terminal that serves as Miyajima’s main gateway, used by approximately 4.6 million people each year. Completed in 1976, the building features a distinctive upturned roof reminiscent of shrine architecture. Inside are shops, coin lockers, rest areas, and a tourist information counter where you can pick up maps and brochures and gather sightseeing information about Miyajima. There are three piers in total: one is used by JR West Miyajima Ferry, one by Miyajima Matsudai Kisen, and the remaining pier serves various other routes. Examples include Aquanet Hiroshima’s "World Heritage Route," which runs to Peace Memorial Park in about 45 minutes, and high-speed boats operated by Setouchi Sea Line that reach Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima in about 25 minutes and Aki Grand Hotel in about 22 minutes. Being able to access tourist sites and hotels directly by sea is highly appealing—no transfers, plus beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea along the way. Access to Miyajima Pier is via a ferry ride of about 10 minutes from Miyajimaguchi.
