Yoyogi Park

Yoyogi Park is an urban park with an area said to be equivalent to 11 Tokyo Domes. Because it’s located right near Shibuya and Harajuku—where crowds are constant—it’s beloved as an oasis in the city. The area was originally used as the Yoyogi military drill ground, then after the war became U.S. military housing, and later served as the athletes’ village for the Tokyo Olympics before being developed into the park we see today. Within the park you can still find Tokyo Olympics legacy elements, such as buildings that once served as Dutch athletes’ housing. In the main A area, not only deep greenery but also fountains and a water corridor create a soothing atmosphere. You can also rent bicycles at the Cycling Center and enjoy cycling through the green. Across the road, the B area has facilities such as an athletic stadium. Access: about a 3-minute walk from JR Harajuku Station, Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line Yoyogi-koen Station, or Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line / Fukutoshin Line Meiji-jingumae (Harajuku) Station; also accessible from Odakyu Yoyogi-hachiman Station.
