Tokyo Metropolitan Government Observatories
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observation Rooms are on the 45th floor of the No. 1 Main Building, at a height of 202 meters. While Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree are famous observation decks, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government observation rooms are notable for being free to use. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a twin-tower complex, and both the North and South towers have observation rooms at the same height. The North deck is open until 17:30, while the South deck is open until 20:00—so if you want to enjoy night views, choose the South deck. The South deck also features the “Tocho Omoide Piano,” which visitors can play freely. Both decks have café spaces and shops where you can buy Tokyo souvenirs. On clear days, you can enjoy sweeping views from Tokyo Bay all the way to Mt. Fuji, and you can also spot Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree—try matching what you see with the installed sightseeing panels. Access: about a 1-minute walk from Tochomae Station on the Toei Oedo Line.
