Ebisuya Miyajima

Ebisuya Miyajima is a rickshaw tour service on Miyajima. The Japanese rickshaw is said to have originated in Japan in 1870 (Meiji 3), though there is also a theory that a French "vinaigrette" created in 1668 was its precursor. The word "jinrikisha" later transformed into "rickshaw" abroad. The rickshaw has a canopy over the seat and blankets are provided, so you can enjoy it even in summer, winter, or on rainy days. Although it looks heavy, it is said to feel surprisingly light when pulling, and female pullers are also active. Capacity is up to 2 people, but if a child can sit on a parent’s lap, they may accommodate more. You can choose from routes of 1 section, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or 120 minutes, and they can customize the route upon request. During the ride, you can also receive sightseeing commentary and have photos taken. It’s especially recommended for visitors with limited time on Miyajima—enjoy the scenery from a higher viewpoint than usual.
