Miyajima Matsudai Kisen
Miyajima Matsudai Kisen is a ferry service operated by the Hiroden Group, which also runs Hiroshima’s streetcar network. It connects Miyajimaguchi on the mainland with Miyajima in just 10 minutes. The same route is also served by JR West Miyajima Ferry, and fares are identical at 180 yen one way for adults and 90 yen for children.
Miyajima Matsudai Kisen operates three ferries: the modern, fully barrier-free vessel "Aki," launched in 2017, and the "Miyajima" and "Itsukushima," each with a capacity of 800 passengers. Onboard, passengers can enjoy announcements introducing Miyajima, as well as informational videos shown on large plasma screens. Open decks also allow travelers to take in views of the Seto Inland Sea, building excitement for the journey ahead. Ferries usually run at 15-minute intervals, but on especially busy days such as during the Kangen-sai Festival or the Miyajima Underwater Fireworks Festival, additional services are operated to accommodate crowds. Access to the ferry terminal is convenient, with a 6-minute walk from JR Miyajimaguchi Station and a 3-minute walk from Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station. Nearby parking is available for those arriving by car.
