Shiratama no Yu: Kahou

Shiratama-no-Yu Kaho is a hot spring ryokan in Tsukioka Onsen, Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture. Its private hot spring source “Shiratama-no-Yu” is a sulfur spring with one of the highest component contents in Japan, and due to its rich benefits it is called a “hot spring that makes you beautiful.” The same source water also flows into the open-air baths connected by wooden decks, where you can enjoy various styles such as rock baths, cypress baths, sitting baths, and reclining baths. After bathing, you can enjoy thoughtful services such as a special shrimp miso soup, drinks, and ice cream at a spacious resting area—showing fine hospitality. Meals use local Niigata ingredients from one of Japan’s top food-producing regions. At Kaho, the style is to present elegant dishes in smaller portions but across many items, so you can taste the ingredients as they are. Why not savor truly gourmet cuisine with all five senses? Access: about 20 minutes by paid shuttle bus from Toyosaka Station; by car, about 25 minutes from Nihonkai-Tohoku Expressway “Toyosaka-Niigata-Higashi Port I.C.”, or about 25 minutes from Ban-etsu Expressway “Yasuda I.C.”
