Hotel Seymour Shirahama Underwater Observatory
Shirahama Underwater Observation Tower—also known as the "Coral Princess"—is an all-weather underwater observatory tower that extends over the coast of Shirahama. Located 100 meters offshore and allowing viewing down to a depth of 8 meters, it lets you look into the sea through underwater windows. You can directly watch about 30 kinds of fish—such as "Chinu," "Gure," and "Kasago"—swimming right outside, offering a nature experience that feels like scuba diving. Since the fish you see change with the seasons, sea lovers can enjoy it no matter how many times they visit. The bridge you cross to reach the tower is also a highlight: on clear days, you can enjoy magnificent views along with the scent of the ocean. Access: take the JR Kinokuni Line to "Shirahama Station," then ride the Meiko Bus for about 15 minutes to the "Shin-Yuzaki" stop. The tower is along the coast on the west side of "Hotel Seamore." If you are staying at Hotel Seamore (the prominent white hotel in front of the tower), you can visit at a discounted price—don’t forget to use it.
