Iwappara Ski Resort

Iwappara Ski Resort is a ski area located on the Iwappara Highlands, about 10 minutes by car from Echigo-Yuzawa. Its key feature is its wide and long selection of 20 different slopes and courses. Many courses are designed for beginners and intermediate skiers, making it a comfortable and easy-to-ski resort for a wide range of visitors. For first-timers, it is recommended to ski down from the summit via the beginner course—the continuous skiing distance reaches 4,000 meters. Be sure to enjoy the sense of achievement when you make it all the way to the base area. The “Main Burn” is a wide gentle slope where you can really feel the openness of the sky. For night skiing, the “Grand Burn,” close to the main entrance, is recommended. After sunset, you can ski while enjoying the fantastic lights of the town below and the expressway that winds in an S-shape. There are many lodgings on the mid-slope, and choosing from various accommodation options is also part of the fun at Iwappara.
