Shirahama Energy Land

Shirahama Energy Land is a science-museum-style theme park located very close to Shirarahama Beach. It was established in Wakayama, the birthplace of Konosuke Matsushita (founder of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.), based on his desire to provide a place where people could learn the importance of energy while having fun. The facility is divided into three areas. In the "Surprise Video Area," you can experience immersive attractions such as a powerful 360-degree 3D screen that makes you feel as if you’ve entered the natural world, as well as thrilling dinosaur-themed attractions. In the "Mysterious Forest Area," many visitors take photos in the trick-art corner and other curious spaces. The "Experience Maze Area" offers a relaxing footbath with free-flowing hot spring water, and you can even eat onsen eggs—making it enjoyable for adults as well. For lunch, you can take your time at the view restaurant overlooking Shirarahama with local specialties like "Wakayama ramen" or "Nanko-ume udon." For lighter bites, snacks and colorful, SNS-friendly drinks are also available. Recommended souvenirs include "dinosaur caps" and the mascot character Ene-gon’s favorite cookies. Access: take the JR Kinokuni Line to "Shirahama Station," then ride the Meiko Bus for about 15 minutes to the "Shirarahama" stop; you’ll see the sign for Shirahama Energy Land immediately.
