Hiroshima City Central Park

Hiroshima Central Park is a vast comprehensive park located right in the heart of Hiroshima City, covering an area of 42 hectares. The park brings together major facilities such as Hiroshima Castle, Green Arena (Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center), the library, the Hiroshima Museum of Art, and the Children’s Museum of Science and Culture. Entry to the park itself is free, though some facilities within the park charge admission. Access to Hiroshima Central Park is about a 10-minute walk from Astram Line "Kencho-mae" Station or "Johoku" Station. From JR Hiroshima Station, take a streetcar (Hiroshima Electric Railway) or a bus (about 15 minutes) to "Kamiyacho" or "Bus Center," then walk about 10 minutes. Beloved as a place of relaxation for Hiroshima residents, the park becomes lively on weekends and holidays with joggers, people relaxing on the lawn, and families enjoying barbecues. Because it is a large, comprehensive park, it is a good idea to decide your destination within the park in advance. With its convenient location, it is also a great spot to take a break during city sightseeing—or to bring a packed lunch and enjoy a picnic on the grass.
