Hiroshima City Manga Library

Hiroshima Manga Library is a library in Minami Ward, Hiroshima City, located within Hijiyama Park and surrounded by lush greenery. It operates like a typical public library found across Japan, with free use and free borrowing, but it specializes exclusively in manga, making it a must-visit spot for manga lovers. It is well known among fans that the hugely popular series "ONE PIECE" is available in a complete set. While it is Japan’s only public manga library, expectations may be modest at first precisely because it is public, but many visitors are said to be surprised by how extensive the collection is—about 150,000 volumes. However, note that it is about 800 meters uphill from the nearest bus stop to the library, so don’t forget to save your energy for reading manga! Although it is a public library, it is also a sightseeing spot, so anyone can use the facilities, but a Hiroshima City Library card is required for borrowing. Those who live in Hiroshima City or commute or attend school there can reportedly create one easily.
