Port Island West Park "Shiosai"
Po-i Shiosai Park is a park along the western coastline of Port Island in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, opened in 2007 to mark the 140th anniversary of the opening of Kobe Port. Its official name is Port Island West Park, while the nickname “Po-i Shiosai Park” was chosen through a public contest. Access is about a 7-minute walk from Naka-koen Station on the Kobe Port Liner. The park faces the sea for about 800 meters, offering views from many points of the Rokko mountain range, Kobe Port, and Kobe Harborland. A university campus is adjacent, and some facilities such as restaurants are reportedly open to the general public. The night view from the park is especially stunning; along with locations like Takahama Wharf and the west side of the Naka Pier, it has been selected as one of the “Top 10 Night Views of Downtown Kobe.” The “BE KOBE” monument was also installed here in July 2019, becoming a popular new photo spot. Whether you come to relax in the daytime watching ships come and go, or to enjoy Kobe’s spectacular night scenery, it’s a beloved urban park.
