Kobe Harborland
Kobe Harborland is a redeveloped district in Chūō Ward, Kobe City, Hyōgo Prefecture, and one of Kobe’s most popular sightseeing areas, featuring large complex facilities with shopping, dining, cinemas, and more. It is also often simply called "Harborland." Access is easy—just a short walk from JR Kobe Station (JR Kobe Line), Kosoku-Kobe Station (Hankyu, Hanshin, Sanyō), or Harborland Station (Kobe Municipal Subway). Spanning an area roughly four Tokyo Domes, Harborland offers many highlights. First, try the "Mosaic Giant Ferris Wheel," which lets you enjoy 360-degree views of Kobe; the air-conditioned gondolas make it comfortable even in summer. Next, take the "Harbor Walk," a wooden seaside promenade developed along the waterfront from the former Kobe Port signal station to the brick warehouses—every angle offers a very "Kobe-like" view. Finally, visit "Kobe Gaslight Street," an elm-lined avenue facing the brick warehouses; at night the gas lamps are lit, creating a dreamy atmosphere together with the surrounding nightscape. Beyond these, you’ll find plenty of gourmet, shopping, and leisure options.
