Sankeien Garden

Sankeien Garden is a traditional Japanese strolling garden with artificial hills and a central pond, covering approximately six hectares, created to commemorate the opening of Hiroshima Airport. The main gate of Sankeien Garden is about a 5-minute walk from the airport terminal building. Limousine buses to Hiroshima Airport operate from the Hiroshima Bus Center, JR Hiroshima Station (Shinkansen Exit), Fukuyama Station, Kure Station, Mihara Station, Saijo Station, and Shiraichi Station. Hiroshima Prefecture is known for its scenic mountains, valleys, satoyama countryside, and coastal landscapes such as Miyajima. Inspired by these beautiful regional landscapes, Sankeien Garden is divided into three zones representing mountains, villages, and the sea. Highlights of the mountain zone include the "Three-Tiered Waterfall" with a height difference of 14 meters. The village zone features bamboo groves, plum orchards, irrigation ponds, and a maple valley reminiscent of nostalgic rural scenery. The sea zone, inspired by the Seto Inland Sea, includes open water, island clusters, bridges, and the Sukiya-style waterside pavilion "Shiomi-tei," evoking the atmosphere of Miyajima. Seasonal festivals are held throughout the year, including the Plum Blossom Festival in March, the Flower Festival in June, and the Autumn Maple Festival in November, allowing visitors to enjoy the garden’s beauty in every season.
