Numazu Minato Shinsenkan

Numazu Minato Shinsenkan is a commercial facility filled with shops selling Numazu’s best foods. Located at the entrance to Numazu Port—often called the gateway to the Izu Peninsula—it bustles with people seeking fresh seafood and Izu souvenirs. Numazu, blessed with many sunny days and steady winds, has long been famous for himono (dried fish). At shops run directly by fish wholesalers and other seafood specialists, you can buy local specialties like richly fatty horse mackerel and luxurious kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) himono. Izu, with Mt. Fuji rising to the north, is also known for foods grown with clean water, such as tea and wasabi; Shinsenkan carries these Izu gems as well, alongside seafood products. (Text continues: the facility also offers dining within the building.)
