Kadowakitsuribashi-Bridge
Kadowaki Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Jogasaki Coast in Ito City, which stretches about 9 km along the city’s southeast. The coast was formed by lava flows from an eruption of Mt. Omuro about 4,000 years ago, creating dramatic cliffs that have been used as filming locations for TV dramas. The Kadowaki Suspension Bridge lies roughly midway along the coastal walking trail known as the “Pikunikaru (Picnical) Course.” The bridge stands 23 meters above sea level and is 48 meters long. Suspended over cliffs, it delivers an intense, thrilling experience. Beyond the bridge is Kadowaki Cape Lighthouse; climbing its spiral stairs reveals expansive views of the Izu Islands and the Amagi mountain range. Access: about 30 minutes by car from central Ito (parking available nearby). From JR / Izu Kyuko “Ito” Station, it’s about 1 hour by bus; from Izu Kyuko “Jogasaki-Kaigan” Station, it’s about a 30-minute walk. Along the roughly 3 km Picnical Course, there are multiple scenic points such as observation spots and old cannon-battery ruins, plus seasonal flowers like hydrangeas and daylilies. Note: the observation deck at Kadowaki Cape Lighthouse is currently closed.
