Surugawan-Numazu SA

NEOPASA Suruga Bay Numazu is a service area on the Shin-Tomei Expressway in Numazu City, Shizuoka. A key feature is that both the upbound and downbound sides can be entered from local roads as well. Because of its excellent views, it’s popular with drivers: from the observation space you can overlook Suruga Bay and the Izu Peninsula. As you’d expect from a service area, dining and shopping are well stocked—restaurants serving seafood bowls and Shizuoka specialties, plus a well-known coffee chain. The produce and fresh-goods shop carries lots of local ingredients and dried fish, tempting you to splurge. Original sweets using regional ingredients are also sold. Outside, there’s a dog run, making it ideal for drives with pets. On the 2nd floor of the upbound SA, there’s even a bookstore—rare for a service area. The Book & Cafe style lets you read your favorite book while enjoying coffee and a relaxed break. There’s also a bell installed on the top floor, which couples or families might enjoy ringing. It’s about 31 km from Shin-Tomei Expressway NEOPASA Shimizu and about 26 km from Tomei Expressway EXPASA Ashigara.
