Takada Castle Mie Tower
Takada Castle Triple Turret was reconstructed in 1993 as a commemorative project for the 20th anniversary of Joetsu City’s establishment. Because the Takada Castle site was a designated historic site of Niigata Prefecture, the reconstruction design was based on detailed research using picture maps, ancient documents, and excavation surveys. Inside the turret, you can experience VR that recreates Takada Castle as it was in the Edo period using computer graphics, freely moving through the interior and surrounding area as it once existed. The night view is also a must-see: Takada Castle’s illumination was recognized, and it was certified as one of the “Three Great Night Castles of Japan.” Enjoy the scenic beauty of Takada Castle Park together with “Sakura Road,” a tunnel of cherry-lined trees lit up at night. Access: about 15 minutes by car from JR Joetsu-Myoko Station; about 10 minutes by car from Takada Station (Echigo Tokimeki Railway); about 20 minutes by car from Naoetsu Station; about 20 minutes by car from Hokuriku Expressway Joetsu I.C.; about 15 minutes by car from Joshinetsu Expressway Joetsu-Takada I.C.
