Toki Forest Park
Toki no Mori Park is a park on the eastern side of the Kuninaka Plain in central Sado Island. To allow visitors to see the precious crested ibis (toki) up close, it features a large cage where the birds can fly, recreating an environment closer to nature. At the “Toki Fureai Plaza,” you can observe tokis eating at close range. Another must-see facility is the “Toki Materials Exhibition Hall.” Although you may sometimes hear about tokis in the news, many people don’t know what kind of animal they are or why conservation and breeding are being done. Here you can learn about conservation and reintroduction efforts through materials, and deepen understanding by viewing taxidermy specimens and skeletal exhibits. In the adjacent observation corridor, you can also watch tokis at the Sado Toki Conservation Center. Access: by car, about 10 minutes from Sado Airport, about 20 minutes from Ryotsu Port, about 50 minutes from Ogi Port, Akadomari Port, or Ryotsu area ports; by route bus, about 20 minutes from Ryotsu Port.
