Akakura Kanko Hotel
Akakura Kanko Hotel is a resort hotel founded in 1937 on Mt. Myoko. The hotel stands at an altitude of 1,000 meters, and the vast natural scenery seen from there is truly spectacular. For its hot springs, it draws water from the historic Akakura Onsen, which was first opened in the Edo period. The spring quality combines two components—sulfate spring and bicarbonate spring—and is said to retain heat well and be beneficial for cuts and beautiful skin. There is also a day-use plan that includes a restaurant meal and hot spring bathing, recommended for those who want to casually enjoy a resort atmosphere. On the same grounds is the Akakura Kanko Resort Ski Area, where you can enjoy skiing in winter. With over 80 years of tradition and prestige, the hotel has also been updating its rooms: the main building’s deluxe rooms were renovated in 2018, and a premium wing was newly built and opened in 2016. Access: about 10 minutes by free shuttle bus from Myoko-Kogen Station (Echigo Tokimeki Railway / Shinano Railway), or about 15 minutes by car from the Joshinetsu Expressway.
