Kinokawa SA (Southbound)
Kinokawa Service Area is located along the Hanwa Expressway. There are both inbound and outbound sides, and the "outbound" side is especially known for its great views. There are observation areas facing east and west; in particular, the west-side observation area is recommended for sitting on the wooden benches and enjoying a relaxed lunch. At night, the area is illuminated, offering a different atmosphere. The main food court has multiple eateries featuring Wakayama specialties such as Japanese dishes using Wakayama-grown "Kishu ume" and "Wakayama ramen," making it hard to choose. Even if you suddenly remember you forgot to buy souvenirs, the selection is excellent—everything from sweets to local sake can be found here. While service areas are typically used as rest stops when traveling by private car, Kinokawa Service Area is also popular as a destination to enjoy gourmet food even via public transportation. Access: from JR Hanwa Line "Kii Station," walk about 10 minutes north. By Wakayama Bus, it is about a 10–12 minute walk from the stops "Kii Ueno," "Kii Ekimae," or "Nishimurayamaguchi."
