Wakayama Marina City
Wakayama Marina City is an artificial island created in conjunction with the World Resort Expo held in 1994. It comprehensively covers nearly every tourism category: the theme park "Porto Europa," designed with foreign-style streetscapes for rides and shopping; the Japanese-style "Kuroshio Ichiba" lined with eateries and souvenir shops; the "Umi-tsuri Park" where you can enjoy sea-side fishing; "Kishu Kuroshio Onsen," a hot spring sourced from ancient strata; and for accommodations, the scenic "Wakayama Marina City Hotel." With everything from gourmet food and souvenirs to entertainment and lodging available in one place, it’s loved by a wide range of visitors including families, friends, and couples. Public transportation access is also excellent: take the Nankai Main Line to "Kainan Station," then ride a Wakayama Bus and get off at the "Marina City" bus stop—it’s right there. Since the bus stop is close, you can enjoy a full day without worry even if you’re carrying lots of souvenirs.
