Omoide Romankan

Omoide Roman-kan is a hot-spring inn that revived Fukuroda Onsen for the modern day. Fukuroda Onsen was once known as a place where Sekitetsunosuke (a key figure behind the Sakuradamon Incident) recuperated, and place names such as “”Yu Hachiman Shrine”” and “”Yuirii”” remain from the old spa town. However, the hot spring remained dry for a long time. After overcoming many difficulties, it was restored over the course of a year and a half, and in 1936 it opened as Ibaraki’s first hot-spring inn—today’s Omoide Roman-kan. The water is slightly lukewarm, but it is well regarded for warming the body from within afterward and helping prevent chills. It is also said to be effective for symptoms such as neuralgia, muscle pain, and fatigue recovery. Meals focus on local flavors such as Daigo-grown Koshihikari rice and hot-spring eggs made with Okukuji eggs; breakfast is buffet-style. Guest rooms include a variety of traditional Japanese-style rooms typical of a ryokan, as well as Western-style rooms and antique-themed rooms. Access includes a shuttle pickup from “”Fukuroda Station”” (about 5 minutes by car). For those driving, there is free parking for 100 cars.
