Hitachi Seaside Park
Hitachi Seaside Park is a vast 215-hectare national park. Its appeal is the large-scale flower gardens that showcase seasonal blooms throughout the year, with spring nemophila (baby blue eyes) being especially famous. Roughly 5.3 million nemophila flowers dye an entire hill blue, creating a dreamlike landscape. Other highlights include daffodils, tulips, roses, sunflowers, and more, making it worthwhile in every season. The park has cycling courses, which help visitors get around efficiently, and the Seaside Train that circulates the grounds is very convenient; strollers and wheelchairs can be brought aboard when folded. There are also many attractions and facilities, including the amusement area “”Pleasure Garden”” with a Ferris wheel, a barbecue area, and a disc golf course, offering a wide range of activities. Access is by bus from JR Katsuta Station to either “”Kaihin Koen Nishiguchi”” (West Gate) or “”Kaihin Koen Minamiguchi”” (South Gate).
