Rokko Garden Terrace

Rokko Garden Terrace is a collective name for an observation facility, restaurants, shops, and parks located on Mount Rokko in Nada Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. The view from the observation areas is truly breathtaking—taking in the Akashi Strait, the Osaka Plain, Kansai International Airport, Mount Ikoma, and even the Kii Mountains. There are multiple viewpoints within the area, so you can enjoy different vistas depending on the time of day and angle. The night view is especially famous as the “ten-million-dollar night view,” drawing many visitors. To access Rokko Garden Terrace, take a city bus from Hankyu Rokko Station, JR Kobe Line Rokkomichi Station, or Hanshin Mikage Station to the Rokko Cable (Rokko Cable Shita Station → Rokko Sanjo Station), then transfer to the Rokko Sanjo Bus and get off at the “Garden Terrace” stop. The area has an exotic, international atmosphere with several restaurants and shops where you can enjoy dining and shopping. You can also try the traditional game of “kawarake-nage,” in which you throw an unglazed earthenware plate (kawarake) as far as possible.
