Suma Aqualife Park KOBE

Kobe Municipal Suma Aqualife Park (Suma Aqualife Park / “Suma-Sui”) is an aquarium located within Suma Seaside Park in Suma Ward, Kobe City, and has long been beloved by Kobe residents. Access is about a 5-minute walk from JR Sanyo Main Line Suma-Kaihin-Koen Station, or about a 10-minute walk from Sanyo Electric Railway Tsukimiyama Station. Highlights include the “Dolphin Live” show where bottlenose dolphins perform a variety of tricks, the “Sea Otter Pavilion” where you can watch them eat while listening to commentary, and the “Wave Great Tank” where rays and sharks glide gracefully. The freshwater exhibits are also impressive: the “World Fish Pavilion” gathers freshwater fish from around the globe under themes such as “breeding,” “rare Japanese freshwater fish,” and “evolution,” while the “Amazon Pavilion” lets you view the world’s largest freshwater fish, the arapaima, from inside Japan’s first tube-style underwater tunnel. There are also programs where you can touch dolphins and seals or feed them directly, making it popular as a hands-on, experiential aquarium with a close feel to the animals and fish.
