Rekishi-no-Mieruoka Park
History-View Hill Park is located on Osakishimojima Island in Kure City, in a spot that overlooks the Mitarai Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It was established in 1994, inspired by the selection of the Mitarai area as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. In the Mitarai area, houses from the Showa era and other historic homes have been preserved as they were, and nearby is "Shiomachikan," a facility that includes tourist guidance, walking information, and a rest area, allowing you to stroll while feeling the culture of the Showa period. Along the hillside walking path, there are trees such as cherry blossoms, letting you experience different scenery in each season. Within the park, a stone-built observation platform was developed so that visitors can enjoy panoramic views not only of Mitarai, but also of the Kurushima Strait and the mountains of Shikoku. Because History-View Hill Park has a free parking lot, visiting by car is recommended. By car, it is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Kure IC on the Hiroshima-Kure Road (Kurea Line). There are some narrow roads along the way, but why not enjoy a drive surrounded by nature while glancing at a townscape that still retains the atmosphere of the Showa era?
