Akinada Bridge
Akinada Bridge is a road bridge in Hiroshima Prefecture that connects Kure City on the Honshu side with Shimokamagari Island. It is a toll bridge on the Akinada Bridge Toll Road, and the toll for a regular car is 730 yen. Because ETC cannot be used, payment is cash or coupon tickets only. Among suspension bridges spanning prefectural roads, it is the largest, with a length of 1,175 meters and a width of 16 meters. It spans Onneko-no-Seto between the mainland and Shimokamagari Island. From the bridge, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Akinada Sea, and it is possible to cross by bicycle or on foot as well. Among cyclists, it is popular as the Tobishima Kaido, sometimes called the "backside Shimanami Kaido," because you can cross seven islands. As with the Shimanami Kaido, you can rent bicycles, and accommodations and stylish spots have appeared, making it increasingly popular. Note that bicycles do not require a toll. With a two-lane roadway, you may be able to create unforgettable memories while enjoying the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea stretching to both the right and left. To get to Akinada Bridge, take a bus for about 10 minutes from Aki-Kawajiri Station.
