Azuchi Castle Museum "The House of Nobunaga"
Azuchi Castle Tenshu: Nobunaga no Yakata is a facility within "Azuchi Town Bungei no Sato," a cultural and arts hub established in 1994 with a classical music hall, multi-purpose arena, restaurant, and more. Inside, you can view a full-scale reconstruction of the 5th and 6th floors of Azuchi Castle’s main keep (tenshu), the top section of the iconic castle built in 1579 under the orders of Oda Nobunaga. This reconstructed tenshu was originally created as the main exhibit of the Japan Pavilion at the 1992 Seville World Exposition in Spain. After the expo, it was transferred to Azuchi Town and is now preserved and displayed together with additional reconstructed sections. The museum also features a VR recreation of Azuchi Castle based on excavation findings and research materials. A short movie set in Azuchi Castle at the time of its founding offers further insight into the atmosphere of the era. The nearest station is Azuchi Station on the JR Biwako Line, about a 25-minute walk away. Parking is available, making it convenient to visit by car as well.
