Saitama Children's Zoo

Saitama Children’s Zoo (Kodomo Doubutsu Shizen Koen) is a zoo located in Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture. Within its expansive 46-hectare grounds, some animals are kept in free-range environments, and the zoo is especially popular with children in Saitama because it is home to quokka wallabies, which are said to be exhibited only in Australia. Other highlights include koalas and capybara open-air baths, which have also become crowd favorites. Beyond the zoo, there is a Peter Rabbit museum and the Adventure Forest athletic course, making it popular even with older elementary school children. Next door is the Saitama Peace Museum, and the two facilities are directly connected, making it easy to enjoy a full day out. One of the most popular experiences is the hands-on animal interaction area, such as feeding goats. Visitors can also ride ponies, look for squirrels in Acorn Forest, spot owls, and meet many animals in the Friendly Corner. Access is a 20-minute walk from Takasaka Station on the Tobu Tojo Line. Alternatively, take a bus from Takasaka Station and get off at “Kodomo Doubutsu Shizen Koen,” which is right in front of the entrance.
