Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park

Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park is a prefectural park located in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture. The park stands on the site known as the birthplace of Japanese aviation, which inspired its name, and is affectionately called “Aviation Park” by locals. The park includes the Aviation Museum, Tokorozawa City Library, a Japanese garden and tea house, an outdoor stage, tennis courts, baseball fields, and even a dog run. A running course circles the park and is illuminated at night for safe use. Children’s playground equipment and athletic facilities make it a great destination for families. Aircraft such as the C-46A transport plane and the YS-11 can be seen within the park, along with remnants of the original runway. While the aircraft interiors are usually viewable only from outside, they are sometimes opened to the public during special periods, so advance checking is recommended. The park is a 3-minute walk from Kōkū-Kōen Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. Annual events include the Tokorozawa Aviation Festival in April and the Tokorozawa Citizen Festival in October.
